Barbara Lafitte-Oluwole is a mother, organizer and bedrock in the West Oakland community. She works on issues such as violence reduction, economic development and housing. Her organizing support has changed the lives of hundreds in West Oakland. Whether at an NCP meeting, meeting with a councilmember or holding community dinners at her home, Barbara continues to show the importance of bringing communities together to create a better city. When she’s not changing the world through one-to-ones and accountability sessions with policymakers, you can often find her in her garden or taking care of her ducks and chickens.
