Big Gains to Protect Sexually Exploited Minors
March 28, 2012
Mobilizing more than a thousand youth and families in multiple actions over the past few months has resulted in commitments being implemented to reduce the sexual exploitation of minors in the San Antonio community. Police Chief Jordan is authorizing continuing foot patrols. The City Attorney Parker is securing a court order to close the National Motel cited hundreds of times for renting rooms for protitution. Police are planning on issuing “Dear John” letters publicizing names of solicitors. The School District is holding training sessions for staff, parents and students to provide education and support for youth targeted for prostitution. We thank Councilwoman Pat Kernighan for steadfast support. Media has been all over these actions.
