OCO Co-Chair, Father Jesus Nieto

Faith-based community organizing with OCO has been a tremendous blessing for me and my ministry in the community of faith of St. Anthony's. The skills and principles learned from the discipline of community organizing, applied to our reality, have empowered people in the pews of the church to become actively engaged in improving our community, holding public officials accountable to the needs of low, moderate and middle income families and transforming social unjust structures. But; more than that, this process has helped us to become friends with one another and willing to fight for the common good. As OCO co-chair, I do pray that the blessings of organizing under this model, will reach out to every Oaklander. For the people in our neighborhoods to discover and use their full, God-given potential to better their lives and the lives of others. Blessings and prayers upon this journey....
