St Jarlath OCO leaders organized forum providing information and specific support to more than 200 immigrant families on a) status of immigration legislation and policy, b) individual consultations with attorneys specialized in immigration cases, c) help with citizenship application process, c) information about services provided by the Mexican consulate services, and d) free flu shots. Fr Figueroa-Esquier blessed the community with the special prayer of protection to Our Lady Mary. He is also in line for citizenship and voting. The event was covered by three TV stations.
After winning state legislation modeled on “check points” saving immigrants drivers from care impoundment, OCO is now working with PICO California leaders on the Trust Act to protect non criminal immigrants from deportation and family separation.
