On Wednesday June 9th OCO leaders from Community Reformed, Brookins AME, Cosmopolitan Baptist Church and Amos Temple met with OUSD (Oakland Unified School District) and partner RJOY (Restorative Justice for Oakland’s Youth) to push for expansion and inclusion of services to reach those
most in need at their high schools.
OCO Youth and Adult Leaders of Community Reformed Church LOC won on-site trauma healing services from Oakland Unified School District for Oakland’s High School Youth affected by violence. Youth can expect to see these services available at their high
schools in the 2010/2011 school year!
OCO Leaders also won a seat for community engagement at the policy and practice setting tables for African American high school males facing barriers to success along with their parents, families, communities and faith community as part of OUSD’s 4-prong Full Services School Model roll out in the 2010/2011 school year. OCO youth and adult leaders and the faith community were invited to a seat at the table with RJOYs expansion of Restorative Justice and Discipline practices to Castlemont High School students in 2010-2011 school year.
